My tech obsession comes with a very messy little problem: cords everywhere. Sometimes, my desk feels like a breeding ground for cables. I’m not one to make “New Year’s Resolutions”… but I do want to be more organized, so perhaps 2012 is my year. I’ve purchased lots of little products to organize my cords, so I thought I’d give you a round up if you’re facing the same irritation.
As an Apple obsessive, I’ve come to appreciate those white cords more than any other. Their thin, simple and last forever. However, there are also WAY too many of them on my desk. The CableDrop Cord Clip packs come in packages of 6 in a wide variety of colors and are super easy to use. If you have a set of cords that you use over and over again - then this is the perfect solution for you. They have a bit of adhesive on the back that is non-toxic and is pretty easy to remove and move around if you like.
You can pick them up at the Container Store online for $9.99 for a package of six.
For the best bang for your buck, I’d recommend the Cableyoyo Cord Manager.
The small square is easy to use and winds up a maximum of six feet of cord. For $4.99, you get a package of 3 cord managers, which come in white, silver and black. The nice thing about these is that they are convenient for both office use, but also great for things like your gaming areas where you have long controller cords and the kitchen too. Appliance cords can get pretty disorganized too, so the uses for these are really endless. Plus, they’ll match appliances in a wide range of colors.
If your desk is anything like mine, there are plugs coming out of a multi-prong power strip. The Quirky Plug Hub is an obvious choice for organizing under the desk.
The hub has three openings on the top for the cords to neatly pass through. There’s enough room in the back to neatly wrap up the excess length for easing hiding. The Hub also has a rubber bottom to sit firmly on the floor or you can mount it to the wall.
It’s $28.99, but it hides a lot of cables for that price.
