    Ladies Opening This November

This whole thing started with a mission: support female led films on opening weekend whenever possible.* If you want to read more about why, you can read that post here.

November is a big month in my life. It’s one full of family and history and often travel to spend time with said family and revel in our history. This year, I am looking forward to sitting around the table with my loved ones and telling them about the next big things in my life and celebrating the beautiful joys in theirs. But I’m also hoping to convince them to go out for Ladies Opening This Weekend, because Saorise Ronan, Drew Barrymore, Toni Collette and Jennifer Lawrence all take top billing in movies this month. Now that’s something to be thankful for.

    NOVEMBER 6TH:

    Brooklyn (Starring Saorise Ronan)
Logline: An Irish immigrant lands in 1950s Brooklyn, where she quickly falls into a new romance. When her past catches up with her, however, she must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within.

Miss You Already (Directed by Catherine Hardwicke; Written by Morwenna Banks; Starring Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette)
Logline: The friendship between two life-long girlfriends is put to the test when one starts a family and the other falls ill.

The 33 (Directed by Patricia Riggen and Starring Naomi Scott)
Logline: Based on the real-life event, when a gold and copper mine collapses, it traps 33 miners underground for 69 days.

    NOVEMBER 13TH:

By the Sea (Written By, Directed By and Starring Angelina Jolie)
Logline: Set in France during the mid-1970s, Vanessa, a former dancer, and her husband Roland, an American writer, travel the country together. They seem to be growing apart, but when they linger in one quiet, seaside town they begin to draw close to some of its more vibrant inhabitants, such as a local bar/café-keeper and a hotel owner.

Ingrid Bergman in Her Own Words (Starring Ingrid Bergman)
Logline: A captivating look behind the scenes of the remarkable life of a young Swedish girl who became one of the most celebrated actresses of American and World cinema.

    Shelter (Starring Jennifer Connelly)
Logline: Hannah and Tahir fall in love while homeless on the streets of New York. Shelter explores how they got there, and as we learn about their pasts we realize they need each other to build a future.

    NOVEMBER 20TH:

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 (Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Written by Suzanne Collins)
Logline: As the war of Panem escalates to the destruction of other districts by the Capitol, Katniss Everdeen, the reluctant leader of the rebellion, must bring together an army against President Snow, while all she holds dear hangs in the balance.

Carol (Written by Phyllis Nagy and Starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara)
Logline: Set in 1950s New York, a department-store clerk who dreams of a better life falls for an older, married woman.

    NOVEMBER 27TH:

The Danish Girl (Written by Lucinda Coxon and Starring Alicia Vikander)
Logline: The remarkable love story inspired by the lives of artists Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener. Lili and Gerda’s marriage and work evolve as they navigate Lili’s groundbreaking journey as a transgender pioneer.
