Took less than 30 minutes to make two costumes. People want to instagram my instagram. How hip is that?
He was cool with it though.
And here’s how the whole thing went down, in audio/visual format:
If you’ve still got parties to attend this week or just make every single kid that comes to the door hold up your costume in front of their costume, then here’s how you can do it too:
1. Get yourself some poster board.
2. Measure and cut out a frame.
3. Get yourself some transparent cellophane (like this stuff - or just go to the craft store and say, “I need that clear stuff that has some color in it that they sometimes wrap around Easter baskets.” They’ll know what you’re talking about.)
4. Cut out your cellphone wrap and tape it down.
5. Pose.
Beware of the urge to instagram yourself as an instagram.
October is nearly here and anyone who is serious about Halloween knows a great costume requires detailed planning. That’s why I thought I’d share one of the awesome projects a co-worker dreamed up: Dressy Jessie. The idea is that Jessica uses a theme each week to serve as inspiration to concoct a different costume every day in honor of said theme. This week is Star Wars week, but other awesome weeks include Dead Rock n’ Rollers, Orphan week and Johnny Depp week.
Jessica is honestly one of those people who is bursting with creativity. So, if you’re looking for a Halloween costume this year - check out her Facebook page for inspiration.
If you’ve got suggestions or questions - you can email her at [email protected]

Now that the leaves are slowly making their transformation to autumnal colors, I can officially start pondering my Halloween costume options without feeling like a totally pathetic lunatic.
So here’s what I’m thinking:
1. Professor McGonagall or Hermione Granger: In honor of HP7 coming out in November. Hooray!
2. Lisbeth Salandar: Crazy smart. Crazy badass.
3. Joan Jett: Unbelievably talented and seems mainstream enough to be recognizable at parties.
4. The White Witch: Sometimes, it’s just fun to be the villian.
5. Hester Prynne: What can I say, I was kind of inspired by “Easy A.”
What do you think? What are your best ideas for lady geek Halloween costumes?
