Nerds are a weird breed. We do things… compulsively. Impulsively. Repeatedly. Obsessively. We just, embrace our lives with a certain verve that could lead to regrets.
You know what I mean. Mountain Dew induced gut rot regret on a Wednesday morning at work from a long-night of binge watching Doctor Who on Netflix the night before.
Here are the things I just refuse to regret as a nerd:
Why write this? Well, because I want to get beyond just not regretting these things. I want to … celebrate them. So awesome. Take those slightly embarrassing nerdy things you do and turn that on its head. Instead, shout it out and be weirdly parade-levels of proud.

Who says weddings have to consist of red roses and white cakes? I’m not getting married just yet, but when I came across the blog When Geeks Wed, I just had to take a minute to highlight some of the cool ideas featured there.
I’ve said before that your home should reflect your interests. It seems that many, many people start planning a wedding and the vast majority of their personality just disappears. Suddenly, they’re planning a day that looks like something out of Bridal magazine. And that’s sad.
Over at When Geeks Wed, they’re featuring awesome ideas like a Steampunk Wedding, which generated some of the most beautiful weddings images I’ve seen in a long, long time. And while a Death Star cake might not work for everyone, I’m sure it was quite the talking point at that party!
There’s the fashion too, which we all know is one of my favorite parts: a Zelda inspired wedding band, Starfleet Boutonnieres, vintage superhero bridesmaid dresses and wedding garter for literally every possible geeky obsession.
Other great sources for geeky wedding inspiration? Try searching “geek wedding” on Pinterest. The results are fantastic. Yes, ladies do use Pinterest to plan weddings. Hahaha.
If you’re planning a wedding, helping a friend plan a wedding or just want to imagine what your future wedding might look like, then there’s really no better place to find geek-approved inspiration than When Geeks Wed.
Megan Lara just introduced a new “Geek Chic” pattern that is currently up for scoring on Threadless. She’s asking for people to go gives some “Fives” and comments on this, so go do it!
Don’t you just love the idea of combining the overpriced fashion industry with the awesomeness of all things geek? I think it’s a pretty clever mash-up.
You can also be notified if and when it becomes available as a tee.
You can follow Megan on Twitter @mLARAart.

Of course, you might also want to check out Dressy Jessie too. Her costumes make most of us look like amateurs!
